Building Strong Homes presents
Imagine the chance to get away from your day-to-day responsibilities and enjoy a time of restoration in the beautiful mountains of Asheville, N.C.
You’re invited to Operation Restoration
Friday, November 17 – Sunday, November 19, 2023
at the beautiful Billy Graham Training Center at The Cove
This retreat is designed with you in mind if you are looking for a time to get away and connect with God and other like-minded Christian women.
The worries and stresses that come from our culture today can cause us to want to shrink back in fear, allow ourselves to become overwhelmed with desperation, and believe there’s nothing we can do to make a difference. We’re here to help you understand that there is no truth in those statements and help equip you for your God-given calling. When we’re fearful we become paralyzed, and nothing changes. When we’re weak from being beaten down by busyness and expectations we avoid leaning into the calling God has for us. We believe God is raising up an army of women to declare His goodness and glory to a lost and hurting world, and you are part of His plan to help remedy that. Step out in faith and join us for a weekend where God wants to meet with you and reveal the perfect plan He has for your life. Don’t let past failures and mistakes stop you from claiming your place in the blueprint of God’s story. Come and see how He can restore the places long devastated so that you can become a thriving display of His glory.
Your Hosts
Elise Younts, Carol Roper, Julie Bagwell and Wanda Perry
Carol Roper is the creator, producer and host of the Building Strong Homes One Story at a Time podcast and ministry. She has been in womens ministry for over 25 years and believes that women have the power to change the world but realizes we must first start in our own homes, building strong spiritual foundations. From there we are called to reach out to our churches, communities and beyond to make a difference for the kingdom. Her ministry was created to bring hope to those who have endured difficulties in their lives and with their families as well as to encourage women to draw deeper from their faith and build a strong relationship with God as well as other Christian women. She’s been married to her high school sweetheart, John, for 38 years and they are proud parents of a daughter and son and their spouses, as well as their lovable one-year-old grandson.
Restoring God’s Beautiful Plan for Your Life
Pain and heartache can keep us from stepping into the calling God has for us, making us believe that our past failures, hurts and mistakes are too large to overcome. Many of us need to look back and face the pain so we can address it and start over with pure hearts and a new desire to redeem the past and move toward the plan He’s had for us all along. Tearing out the old and rebuilding the places long devasted gives us the freedom we long for to become a woman who radiates God’s splendor and is a powerful force for His glory.
Julie Bagwell is a fun-loving, Bible believing Jesus follower who loves to share the freedom that is found when we apply the good news of the gospel to our lives. She has taught for over 20 years in Sunday schools, kids and womens ministries, small groups and is currently sharing the gospel through mind/body/soul connection fitness ministry. Julie has had a long career in Human Resources that has helped her appreciate the diversity if humans God has created. She’s been married 32 years, has three kids who have added in-laws and a granddaughter to their family.
Restoring What the Enemy Meant for Evil
Do you feel like the busyness and distractions of life drain you, mind, body and soul? Julie will discuss practical ways to guard and gain back control so God can heal and restore these areas of your life.
Wanda Perry is gifted by God with a grand imagination, sense of adventure and an extra dose of enthusiasm (she was once told she could make watching grass grow exciting!). She and her husband, Daniel, have served the Lord in local churches by teaching, preaching, praying and loving their church families for over 44 years. She retired from healthcare after 40 years, working in the capacities of department head of respiratory therapy at Greenville Technical College as well as the head of respiratory therapy at Anmed Hospital in Anderson, S.C. Wanda is a devoted wife, mother of two and a proud MiMi to five beautiful grandchildren and a lover of God’s word.
Restoring Faith to Overcome Fear
Do you struggle with fear or anxiety? Did you know that Jesus was afraid, even unto death? (Mark 15:34) Fear can be debilitating, rendering us unable to think or act, even to the point of succumbing to panic attacks. In this session we will journey through God’s word and learn what the Bible says about fear and anxiety. We will learn to recognize our fear or anxiety and share it with our Savior, understand the source of our fear and be restored through faith to a peace that only Christ can give.
From the time she was a child, Elise had a passion for bringing others to Jesus through her voice. Her childhood church family encouraged her gift and gave her many opportunities to sing. After several years of vocal training, Elise attended North Greenville University where she was accepted onto the Joyful Sound Ministry Team and traveled most weekends ministering to churches. She still enjoys singing and ministering at churches and events in our area, proclaiming God’s blessings. After a season of singleness, God recently answered Elise’s prayer and brought into her life her now husband, Wes.
