Faith through the Fire: A 9/11 Firefighter’s Story of Survival with Niels Jorgensen

Niels Jorgensen

There are moments in history that mark us forever. Moments where time seems to stop, where the world tilts, and where every one of us remembers exactly where we were. September 11, 2001 is one of those moments.

As we approached the 25th anniversary, I felt a deep pull to create a space where our community could gather — not just to remember, but to honor. To honor the lives lost. To honor the families who still carry the weight of that day. And to honor the men and women who ran toward danger when the rest of the world was frozen in shock.

That’s why I’m hosting something very special on September 3.

A Live Conversation with Former FDNY Firefighter Niels Jorgensen

On Tuesday, September 3 from 5:30-7:30 PM, we’ll gather at Infinity Church in Fountain Inn, SC, for an evening of remembrance and gratitude. I’ll be interviewing Niels Jorgensen, a former FDNY firefighter who served at Ground Zero on 9/11 — and this will be my first-ever live interview.

Niels isn’t just sharing facts or timelines. He’s sharing the human side of that day — the courage, the heartbreak, the moments that still live in his memory, and the faith that carried him through the darkest hours our nation has ever known. And the difficult price he had to pay for being there.

This event is free, open to the community, and created for anyone who wants to honor 9/11 in a way that feels personal, reverent, and meaningful.

Honoring Our Hometown Heroes

While we remember the heroes of 9/11, we also want to honor the heroes right here at home — the firefighters and police officers who serve our community every single day. They show up when we need them most, often without recognition, and this night is for them too.

A Chance to Ask Your Own Questions

At the end of the interview, you’ll have the opportunity to ask Niels your own questions. This is a rare chance to hear directly from someone who lived that day — someone who can speak to the courage, the cost, and the hope that rose from the ashes.

Why This Night Matters

In a world that moves fast, we need moments that slow us down. Moments that remind us of what matters. Moments that bring us together in gratitude, reverence, and community.

This night is one of those moments.

Whether you lived through 9/11 as an adult, watched it unfold as a child, or have only known its impact through stories — this evening will touch your heart. It will remind you of the strength of the human spirit, the power of faith, and the importance of remembering.
