How an International Move to Mexico Led to an International Adoption in China with Cindy Marlar

This week I’m thrilled to introduce you to one of my sweet friends, Cindy Marlar. Cindy has an incredible story of struggling with infertility and numerous miscarriages then finally giving birth to two daughters less than two years apart. Then when they thought their family was complete, she unexpectedly got pregnant again. This time she carried the baby to five months. But when the doctor discovered there was no longer a heartbeat she had to go through a grueling process to deliver the baby. After that, she knew she couldn’t take the pain of another loss and decided to give up on having more children.

But God started working in her husband, Scott’s, heart to adopt internationally. It took a while for Cindy to come around but she finally wholeheartedly agreed to what God was leading them to. In order to pursue the adoption, however, it would cost a lot of money they didn’t have. Listen to her tell of the amazing way God worked in their lives to grow their family using an international move to bring an international adoption to fruition. You’ll be amazed how God led them every step of the way and walked with them through this journey out of their comfort zone and into the life He had mapped out for them. I know you’ll love hearing Cindy’s testimony of God’s faithfulness.

Quotes From Cindy

“I’ve got more babies in heaven than I do on earth and I can’t go through this anymore.”

“We gave up our language, our friends, our family, our food, our church… everything that was so valuable to us, we gave up to go to Mexico. And when Grace was going to join our family in a couple of years she was giving up her family, her friends, her language… everything she knew, she was giving that up. So it taught us empathy. It taught us a different way to relate, and to see exactly what this child was going to be experiencing.”

“When you step out of your comfort zone, God gonna step up.”

“God’s gonna meet you where you are. And if you don’t think you can make it, He’s gonna carry you each step of the way.”

“I knew nothing about her, but I knew God was using us to save her life and that we had to do whatever we had to do.”

” I realized there’s more to this world than my little sweet town. I loved my little sweet town, but God was expanding my vision so when we ended up traveling to China, I could relate and I could empathize with not only what Grace was going to be going through, but the other children and families as well.”

“God’s will was clear and present. We just had to be obedient.”

“It was hard in a lot of ways, but it was so worth it… we grew as a family.”
