Operation Restoration Retreat at The Cove

November 17 @ 6:00 pm – November 19 @ 12:00 pm

In case you haven’t heard, Building Strong Homes is having a retreat at the Billy Graham Training Center at The Cove in Asheville, N.C.! Since you are a member of my faithful community through email, I wanted to personally extend an invitation. We have been working hard to put together a weekend away that will encourage and equip you as well as bring lots of fun and relaxation into the mix. We have so many special surprises and God has laid messages on each of our hearts that will fill you up and bring you closer to Him. If you’ve never had the pleasure of experiencing The Cove, it’s like no other place I’ve ever been. I consider it holy ground because of the continual prayers being lifted up for each person who visits. If you’re looking for a time away, a time of refreshment for your soul, this retreat is designed for you. God laid on my heart over a year ago that He wanted me to put together this retreat and I feel strongly that He said to prepare for 30 women. Right now we have 25 signed up. Are you one of the five left that God is calling to come? If you feel drawn to this retreat in any way, would you please pray and ask God what He wants you to do? I would hate for you to miss what God has for you. Check out the information below and if you have questions feel free to contact me at carollynnroper@gmail.com. But make sure you sign up by September 25, that’s the deadline The Cove has given us to secure all of the rooms we need. God bless!! I hope to see you there!

Building Strong Homes presents

Imagine the chance to get away from your day-to-day responsibilities and enjoy a time of restoration in the beautiful mountains of Asheville, N.C.

You’re invited to Operation Restoration

Friday, November 17 – Sunday, November 19, 2023

at the beautiful Billy Graham Training Center at The Cove

This retreat is designed with you in mind if you are looking for a time to get away and connect with God and other like-minded Christian women.

The worries and stresses that come from our culture today can cause us to want to shrink back in fear, allow ourselves to become overwhelmed with desperation, and believe there’s nothing we can do to make a difference. We’re here to help you understand that there is no truth in those statements and help equip you for your God-given calling. When we’re fearful we become paralyzed, and nothing changes. When we’re weak from being beaten down by busyness and expectations we avoid leaning into the calling God has for us. We believe God is raising up an army of women to declare His goodness and glory to a lost and hurting world, and you are part of His plan to help remedy that. Step out in faith and join us for a weekend where God wants to meet with you and reveal the perfect plan He has for your life. Don’t let past failures and mistakes stop you from claiming your place in the blueprint of God’s story. Come and experience restoration in your life and in your relationship with God and others so that you can live in the abundant freedom and hope He has for you!

Your Hosts

Carol Roper, Julie Bagwell and Wanda Perry

Carol Roper

Carol Roper is the creator, producer and host of the Building Strong Homes One Story at a Time podcast and ministry. She has been in womens ministry for over 25 years and believes that women have the power to change the world but realizes we must first start in our own homes, building strong spiritual foundations. From there we are called to reach out to our churches, communities and beyond to make a difference for the kingdom. Her ministry was created to bring hope to those who have endured difficulties in their lives and with their families as well as to encourage women to draw deeper from their faith and build a strong relationship with God as well as with other Christian women. Carol has been featured in Guideposts Magazine and blog as well as Chicken Soup for the Soul: Believe in Miracles. Her blog won first place at the Blue Ridge Mountain Christian Writers Conference in 2016. She’s been married to her high school sweetheart, John, for 38 years and they are proud parents of a daughter and son and their spouses, as well as their lovable one-year-old grandson.

Restoring God’s Beautiful Plan for Your Life

Pain and heartache can keep us from stepping into the calling God has for us, making us believe that our past failures, hurts and mistakes are too large to overcome. Many of us need to look back and face the pain so we can address it and start over with pure hearts and a new desire to redeem the past and move toward the plan He’s had for us all along. Tearing out the old and rebuilding the places long devasted gives us the freedom we long for to become a woman who radiates God’s splendor and is a powerful force for His glory.

Julie

Julie Bagwell is a fun-loving, Bible believing Jesus follower who loves to share the freedom that is found when we apply the good news of the gospel to our lives. She has taught for over 20 years in Sunday schools, kids and womens ministries, small groups and is currently sharing the gospel through mind/body/soul connection fitness ministry. Julie has had a long career in Human Resources that has helped her appreciate the diversity if humans God has created. She’s been married 32 years, has three kids who have added in-laws and a granddaughter to their family.

Restoring What the Enemy Meant for Evil

Do you feel like the busyness and distractions of life drain you, mind, body and soul? Julie will discuss practical ways to guard and gain back control so God can heal and restore these areas of your life.

The Power of Movement (Optional)

Julie will also offer an opportunity to move your body while you process what God is teaching you. This low impact fitness class is designed to facilitate physical, emotional and spiritual strengthening through teaching and application of Biblical principles.

Wanda

Wanda Perry is gifted by God with a grand imagination, sense of adventure and an extra dose of enthusiasm (she was once told she could make watching grass grow exciting!). She and her husband, Daniel, have served the Lord in local churches by teaching, preaching, praying and loving their church families for over 44 years. She retired from healthcare after 40 years, working in the capacities of department head of respiratory therapy at Greenville Technical College as well as the head of respiratory therapy at Anmed Hospital in Anderson, S.C. Wanda is a devoted wife, mother of two and a proud MiMi to five beautiful grandchildren and a lover of God’s word.

Restoring Faith to Overcome Fear

Do you struggle with fear or anxiety? Did you know that Jesus was afraid, even unto death? (Mark 15:34) Fear can be debilitating, rendering us unable to think or act, even to the point of succumbing to panic attacks. In this session we will journey through God’s word and learn what the Bible says about fear and anxiety. We will learn to recognize our fear or anxiety and share it with our Savior, understand the source of our fear and be restored through faith to a peace that only Christ can give.

Praise and Worship with Beth Morris loves worshipping the Lord in spirit and in truth. Her love for music started at an early age and eventually took her to study at Liberty University. She began her journey as a worship leader about 14 years ago with MorningStar Fellowship Church in Wilmington. As her skills grew, her heart to see the Lord lifted up grew and she started a home worship night for women where they could worship God without pressure to perform before anyone. God has blessed her with opportunities to lead for many women’s events with MorningStar Wilmington and in her community, as well as the opportunity to play with Leonard Jones on several occasions as well as Kelanie Gloeckler and Josh Baldwin. Her heart in worship is to truly lift up the Lord with an honest expression from the heart. She has come to believe that the Lord hears our hearts more than he hears our voices or the songs we sing. Beth is so looking forward to joining Carol, Julie, and Wanda in letting God heal hearts and free us to offer true worship to a good God who deserves our truest praise.
