“Forgiveness is making the choice not to serve up an offense to the other person or yourself.” That’s a quote from today’s guest, Jemelene Wilson. Jemelene shares how her husband had an emotional affair with an old high school sweetheart who found him on Classmates.com. I need to warn you, if you have little ears listening you may want to have them occupied elsewhere during this episode. Jemelene talks about intimacy in marriage, her husband’s struggle with pornography and how she, her 16 month-old daughter and her cousins were car-jacked with her daughter still inside. She gives an honest look at her husband’s indiscretion and her feelings toward that, but she also shares how and why she decided to forgive him. She also tells some of the bad advice she and her husband were given in counseling where all of the blame was put on Jemelene. Today she and her husband have a strong marriage and have taken what they’ve learned through their difficult earlier years and use that wisdom to minister to other couples who are struggling with their own marital issues.
Quotes from Jemelene
“Your wounds will begin to heal and your scars are a story that you made it through”
“If you know what scripture says then you can weed out [what’s not true].”
